["guilty as usual" playing] (SINGING) Well, my patience is wearing thinner And my hair keeps seeing silver But there ain't no gold floating in my pan Must be time to search up river But the old man had his say The river dried up yesterday But there might be a place where I can sleep If I found enough to pay But I got to save up all I can Just to pay for my prescriptions The good lord's too giving me a heck 'Cause I canceled my subscription What a weight goes on my shoulder And my coffee's getting colder But there ain't no cream in the crop this year Maybe when the season's over But the old man in this age the ground is full of clay and I'll never grow any seeds I sow if this is where I stay But I've never known my next of kin to break off from tradition But, mamma, I've become so thin Can you make a small rendition?
Might as well just take a page from what I've done before I don't think anyone would be so pretty A good excuse in this age has become such a chore Might as well just admit I'm guilty Oh, yeah Oh, my breath is getting shorter and my feet stand on the border But there ain't no hand with a winning card Baby, can you spare a quarter?
The old man in this age they were stiffed on this weeks pay But there might be a place where I can sleep if I don't mind bales of hay But I got to save up all I can just to pray for my addictions The good lord's too giving me a heck cause I confirmed all his suspicions Might as well just take a page from what I've done before I don't think anyone one would be so pretty A good excuse in this age has become such a chore Might as well just admit I'm guilty A good excuse in this age has become such a chore Might as well just admit I'm guilty Oh, yeah Oh, yeah Oh, yeah ["reptile" playing] Did you hear the so-called prophet mention All our kids are fenced in ridden with infection Saw it coming Speaking of a certain vaccination was drowned by conversations Tourists on vacation always running Oh, well, I'll just keep on gardening Removing all the horrid things that make my eyes so sore But it seems that all the ground is hardening Don't even bother trying to find something that is pure Reptile How's your new skin?
Is your blood still cold from when they told you love was wearing thin?
Cracked smile and a flick of the tongue might keep them at bay But you'll be prey when all is said and done Or perhaps end up in a cage for restless eyes to grow bored as you age Did you hear the latest proposition?
Funds for ammunitions to spread our conditions like a plague Suddenly the tourists drop their visors Paint up all their flyers to convince deniers they know the way But I've got dishes in the sink Wishes fill the wine I drink Keeping me obscured And I'm sure there's poison on the kisses that I think were given to me Just to see how long I'd be deterred Reptile How's your new skin?
Is your blood still cold from when they told you love was wearing thin?
Cracked smile and a flick of the tongue might keep them at bay But you'll be prey when all is said and done Or perhaps end up in a cage for restless eyes to grow bored as you age Oh, dear, did you see it coming?
Wish you hadn't lied And, oh, dear, too late to start running Lock me up inside Reptile How's your new skin?
Is your blood still cold from when they told you love was wearing thin?
Cracked smile and a flick of the tongue might keep them at bay But you'll be prey when all is said and done Or perhaps end up in a cage for restless eyes to grow bored as you age ["discount bin" playing] You see me tally, but I don't have the score You see me swallow, but it isn't the cure Don't ask my mother I don't think that she knows where all my sanity goes to die I don't think she even wonders why I past my neighbors, but I don't even wait to mange Jesus to try to get me saved But I keep all the pamphlets just to get me annoyed It remind me of the kids who are bored and lost in these perfect sinners backwards thoughts Tell me again whats you majoring in You told me last time but my mind was dim But I think I left all my thoughts back in the discount bin You see me slip in but I don't say a word You see me twitching and you wonder what stirs Don't ask my mother I don't think that she knows where all my sanity goes to die I don't think she even wonders why Come here and tell me all the great things you see Living an alternate reality Now my hair is unruly cause there's no one I trust You even give me a cut or trim They just might tear me limb from limb Tell me again what you're majoring in You told me last time but my minds wearing thin cause I think I left all my thoughts back in the discount bin It's a shame Is there nothing we can mend before we reach the end?
It's weighing on my mind It's a shame We have to play pretend just to reach the end And it's taking so much time Tell me again Tell me again Tell me again ["just the postman" playing] I didn't think it would be so soon to find my hair's begun turning gray Plagued by lack of time or perhaps starting a little late Put me in your peripheral recall how things were in your younger years And tell to change my roll because my styles far too queer Wean me off all my hope and pride until my mind goes numb And I think I could survive But I'm not ready to succumb I've been sitting on the edge of my seat And When I hear the door knock, my heart skips a beat Fingers crossed like they been glued But it's just the postman bringing me the same old news Now I'm living with my mind on the brink Spitting up my disease in the bathroom sink Wash it down so it looks clean Put on a smile I'm living the dream The doctor said to up my daily dose My mind's thinking for itself But I'm getting pretty close To throwing it all upon the shelf I've been sitting on the edge of my seat And when I hear the door knock, my heart skips a beat Fingers crossed like they've been glued But it's just the postman bringing me the same old news Now I'm living with my mind on the brink Spitting up my disease in the bathroom sink Wash it down so it looks clean Put on a smile I'm living the dream ["so sour" playing] (SINGING) Secondhand stone [indistinct lyrics] Hey, I must have been wrong about the city Talking nice, getting their highs What's left in the cracks between Used-up lungs They never see the sun Held up in the ravine Oh!
Up on the list, so I blew a kiss In my knee-high, high-heel boots By taking the stage in a different age It might have been kind of cute But they are scared, taken by the mirror [indistinct lyrics] Seems to be that the gallery Is becoming quite obtuse Hey!
So you heard it all before But still, you walk through the doors Looking for something more Hey!
Who'd have thought it tastes so sour Once it's finally devoured?
But you still have your power Woo!
Ooh Is this all that's left for you?
Every day, a new stone in each shoe Ooh Can you spare a passing take?
Let's die younger soon Have a chance to escape Whoa!
Moonstruck love, nowhere left to go And no one left to lose The needle might skip When you play that hit But you gotta catch your comfort food Now, back in the day, all the folks would say They're not made like that anymore Seems to be that the gallery Has always been quite a bore Hey!
So you've heard it all before But still, you walk through those doors Looking for something more Hey!
Who'd have thought it tastes so sour Once it's finally devoured?
But you still have your power Woo!
